…is ignorant and juvenile. They are opposed in the most basic of ways. Romney has hope for the renewal of America’s foundation in capitalism. Obama has hope that we will change from capitalism to socialism and is following that course.
They are not even remotely similar in their basic belief and hope for America.
Happy birthday, dearly beloved. What an inspiration.
I’m pretty sure I’m the only Mitt Romney supporter on this damned website
You’re not alone.
We have our own small community on here. It’s small, but it’s there. :)

From the time Barack Obama took office to June 2010 Robert Byrd was serving as President pro tempore of the United States Senate.
The president pro tempore is third in the line of succession to the presidency. after the vice president and the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
What follows is the most despicable parts of Senator Byrd’s personal and public life available to any and all who wish to do the deep digging research like checking Wikipedia or Google, snarky yes but whatever. I have selected the worst, there’s no denying that, I’m not trying to give him credit for any of his apologies. What would be the point and where’s the proof in that? It’s his record and his actions which count and the rest is just fluff. His actions and public record tell a tale that should make anyone who sees people, not race want to put a fist through sheetrock.
-Byrd was the only senator to vote against both Thurgood Marshall and Clarence Thomas to the United States Supreme Court, the only two African-American nominees. In the former instance, Byrd asked FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover to look into what Byrd believed to be the possibility that Marshall had either connections to communists or had a communist past. Byrd joined 45 other Democrats in voting against confirming Thomas to the Supreme Court. Both men passed congressional approval to become the first and second (respectively) black justices to the supreme court. Marshall was a liberal Democrat. Thomas is currently the only African American on the supreme court and is a Republican.
-In the early 1940s, Byrd recruited 150 of his friends and associates to create a new chapter of the Ku Klux Klan. Byrd held the titles Kleagle (recruiter) and Exalted Cyclops. When it came time to elect the “Exalted Cyclops”, the top officer in the local Klan unit, Byrd won unanimously.
-In 1944, Byrd wrote to segregationist Mississippi Senator Theodore G. Bilbo:
I shall never fight in the armed forces with a Negro by my side … Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.
—Robert C. Byrd, in a letter to Sen. Theodore Bilbo (D-MS), 1944.
-In a March 4, 2001 interview with Tony Snow, Byrd said of race relations:
They’re much, much better than they’ve ever been in my lifetime … I think we talk about race too much. I think those problems are largely behind us … There are white ni**ers. I’ve seen a lot of white ni**ers in my time, if you want to use that word. We just need to work together… I’d just as soon quit talking about it so much. Byrd’s use of the term “white ni**er” created immediate controversy. When asked about it, Byrd responded, I apologize for the characterization I used on this program … The phrase dates back to my boyhood and has no place in today’s society … In my attempt to articulate strongly held feelings, I may have offended people.
(MAY have… you must be joking.)
This could go on but is there really any point? The history of this one individual whose presence in the Democrat Senate was supported for such a long history begs the question, how could the party that claims to be the defenders of African-Americans tolerate such a person in their ranks AND allow him to hold such a high position as President pro tempore? A position where if from 2008-2010 some tragedy occurred and the sitting president, vice pres, and house leader were to have been harmed this man would have become the president of the U.S. by default, 3rd in line.
As for the argument that, at some unidentified point in history the two party’s stance on race spontaneously switched so, all the racists jumped ship from one party to the other and both parties agreed to that!!???!! This would be the most remarkable show of diplomacy between the two parties in U.S. history. I suppose it would be like picking basketball teams in gym class “ok I’ll take Jim he likes black people…I’ll take Robert he’s a white supremest, I mean come on how is that even remotely likely. But if you want to stick with that line someone please fill me in on how Robert Byrd’s policies and opinion coincide with that miracle yet he remained firmly planted in the Democrat aisle? Was “the miracle” before or after he joined the political machine?
What grand revelation will it take for people to see what this party’s true stance is on race. All liberals see is race, race, race, and separation. You’re black, you’re white, you’re LGBT, you’re Islamic, you’re Jewish… not people… divisions. It’s the tactic of war that they use well; divide and conquer. It’s how they control people, make them groups not individuals and them pit them against one another.
I’m sorry this jumps around a bit and maybe off a cliff at this point but I see this all ties together in a grotesque knot of hate and fear that we have to untangle so that people who don’t see can understand. Maybe just get a glimmer of truth that will make them question the status quo and start asking why these things are overlooked when they are told conservatives/Republicans are the racist group. I’m sounding like a freaking hippie revolutionist here, good grief, I’ll let it stand though it is what it is and I mean it. If anyone gets this far and you have thoughts on any of this throw them my way.
- Is the liberal mindset of wanting "everyone to be happy" and offering "government entitlements" as the best solution actually a cop-out from accepting the harder but long lasting solution of independent responsibility?
